Ian joined Arden Chambers in 2005. He was called to the bar in 2001, and before coming to Arden Chambers he was a tenant at 8 King's Bench Walk.

Before being called to the bar, Ian pursued a career as an academic lawyer and has written extensively in the fields of public law, housing law and planning law. He continues to hold a Professorship in Law at City University, where he specialises in teaching public law and is the Director of the LLM program in Housing and Land Law.
